10 Rue Pavée, 75004 Paris, France
The Agoudas Hakehilos Synagogue, at 10 Rue Pavée in the Marais, is the only religious building designed by Hector Guimard. Completed in 1914 for a Russo‑Polish association, it adapts Art Nouveau to a very narrow, obliquely shaped urban plot. A tall, tightly composed street façade leads to a vertically organized worship space with furnishings, lighting and metalwork also designed by Guimard. The building and all its liturgical elements were inscribed as a Monument historique on July 4, 1989, recognizing the ensemble’s architectural unity and rarity. It remains an active place of worship and a notable example of Guimard’s late work in Paris.
