Terms of Use

1. Purpose

These Terms govern the use of ArchitectureMapper, a collaborative map to discover and share architecture.

2. Access and accounts

Browsing is free. You can suggest places without an account. A free member account is needed to like places and post comments.

You are responsible for keeping your login details safe. We may suspend or delete accounts that break these Terms. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.

3. Your contributions

• Accuracy and rights. By submitting a place, photos or any other content, you confirm that the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and that you hold all the necessary rights, including the copyright on the photos and the consent of any recognizable person.
• Photos. Only submit photos you took yourself or that you are allowed to share, and always credit their author.
• Prohibited content. Illegal, defamatory or hateful content; invasion of privacy; personal contact details of third parties; content encouraging trespass on private property; spam or advertising.
• Moderation. Every place and every photo is reviewed before publication, and may be refused, edited or removed, in particular for reasons of rights, safety, accuracy or respect for places and their occupants.
• Credit and license. Your name or pseudonym may be shown as credit. By submitting content, you grant the publisher a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license, for the full legal term of protection, to reproduce, display, adapt, translate and distribute it on the site, its apps and its social media channels.
• Reports and removal requests. To report an error or request the removal of content (for example, a photo you own or a sensitive location), use the “Report” button on the place, or write to architecturemapper@gmail.com. We aim to respond within 72 hours.
• Sensitive places. For fragile or private places, we may show an approximate location or refuse publication.

4. Comments and likes

Comments must be respectful and relevant to the place. We may remove any comment that breaks these Terms.

5. AI-assisted descriptions

Some descriptions are drafted with the help of an AI assistant, then reviewed. They may still contain errors. If you notice one, please report it.

6. Intellectual property and database

The site, its design and its original content are protected. The ArchitectureMapper database is protected as described in our Legal Notice.

You may share links to places and quote a small amount of content for personal, non-commercial purposes, with a link to the source. Any automated extraction (scraping, crawlers, bulk downloads) and any reuse of the database, in whole or in substantial part, especially to build another service, is prohibited without our written consent.

7. Visiting places

Many places listed are private or partly private. Always respect private property, the occupants' privacy and local rules. Visits are made under your own responsibility.

8. Personal data

The processing of your data is described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.

9. Third-party services

The site relies on Mapbox (maps), Google (data management, photo storage, sign-in, emails) and OpenAI (AI assistant). These services have their own terms and privacy policies.

10. Liability

The service is provided “as is”, without guarantee of accuracy or continuous availability. The publisher is not liable for indirect damage, loss of data, or harm related to the use of the site or to visiting a listed place.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. The date at the top shows the latest version.

12. Governing law

French law. The courts of Nice (France) have exclusive jurisdiction.
