Ampliamento dell’aeroporto di Milano-Linate

Infrastructure · by Aldo Rossi con M. Brandolisio, G. Da Pozzo, M. Kocher, G. Vercelloni · 1993

viale Enrico Forlanini 1, Milano, Italy

The Linate airport expansion is imagined as a contemporary city gate. A long façade with regularly spaced granite pilasters creates a strong civic frontage, while iron-and-glass bridges connect passengers to the terminal like industrial-era walkways. Rossi treats the infrastructure as an urban threshold, mixing repetition, monumentality and functional clarity. The building’s image is meant to represent Milan through a staged, metropolitan skyline edge.
