200 Esplanade du Petit-Port, Aix-les-Bains, France
The building, located at Petit Port in Aix-les-Bains, borders France's largest natural lake, a remnant of the glacial era. Constructed in 1933 for the National School of Waters and Forests, it aimed to establish a Hydrological Research Station on city-owned land. This institution, linked to the zoology department, trained engineering students in limnology (the study of lakes) and aquaculture. At the city's request, an aquarium was incorporated into the station's basement, designed by departmental architect Roger Pétriaux. The station closed permanently in 1967 due to its deterioration.
