The commission transformed a former hôtel particulier into art-school studios, so the architecture had to negotiate between heritage fabric and the practical needs of teaching spaces. Rather than erasing the building’s earlier life, the intervention adapts it through new circulation, work areas and contemporary insertions. The result is neither a museum-like restoration nor a neutral fit-out. It feels like a working academic environment formed by reuse, where the old structure actively shapes the experience of making and learning.
