Between the Sheets House

House · by Abbink de Haas · 2012

Netherlands

This house plays with layered thresholds: solid and transparent surfaces overlap to create a sense of privacy without shutting the landscape out. Rooms are arranged so that everyday spaces open toward the most generous light, while more intimate functions are tucked behind filtering elements. The architecture emphasizes long, calm lines and carefully framed openings rather than dramatic gestures. Material transitions are used to signal shifts from public to private zones, making the plan easy to read as you move through it. The result is a home that feels simultaneously sheltered and outward-looking, tuned to changes in season and light.
