Chapelle du collège du Sacré-Coeur ; Institution Sophie-Barat

Religion · by Guillaume Gillet · 1966

50 rue des Grillons, Châtenay-Malabry, France

The Sacré-Coeur College Chapel, designed by architect Guillaume Gillet between 1966 and 1969 in Châtenay-Malabry, features a square plan surrounded by cross-shaped school wings, creating a cloister-like configuration. Constructed in reinforced concrete with a brick façade, the chapel has a roof made of glulam timber trusses that rise at the corners, developed in collaboration with engineer Robert Lourdin. A prominent square spire, clad in copper, crowns the structure, resembling the chapel at La Solitude in Vieux-Condé. The interior is oriented diagonally, with the altar positioned in one corner and a concrete gallery accessible from the upper school levels on the remaining sides.
