Cinéma Normandy
Culture · by Henri Daigue · 1933
387-389 rue Aristide-Briand, Havre (Le), France
The Normandy Cinema, designed by architect Henri Daigue in 1933 for the Noblet and Chometon families, opened in 1934 with 1,200 seats and the largest cinema screen in the city. Over the years, it diversified its programming to include musical performances, theater productions, and concerts featuring artists like Édith Piaf and Jacques Brel. After modernization in 1965, it was renamed Nouveau Normandy in 1989 but closed two years later due to safety concerns. Following a long period of neglect, the site is now being considered for redevelopment into a theater.
