Cité A Docks

Collective housing · by Cattani Architects · 2010

France

This student residence reuses shipping containers as plug-in living units, turning industrial objects into a repeatable housing module. The containers are held by an independent frame, which frees up courtyards and external galleries for daylight and fresh air. Circulation happens like a miniature street network, encouraging chance encounters while keeping private rooms compact and efficient. The project embraces its port-city context: corrugation, stacking, and bold repetition become part of the identity rather than something to hide.
