Cité des Bleuets
Urban planning · by Paul Bossard · 1959
75-81 rue Chéret, Créteil, France
Cité des Bleuets, designed by architect Paul Bossard and completed between 1959 and 1962, consists of 500 social housing units. In collaboration with builder Benjamin Kaplan, the project aims to provide residents with "equivalents to wealth," reflecting its experimental nature approved by the Ministry of Construction. The ten five-story blocks are situated on a steep site in northern Créteil, carefully landscaped with pedestrian pathways. Showcasing a brutalist aesthetic, the buildings are constructed with load-bearing concrete walls and prefabricated, ribbed concrete façade panels.
