Cité HBM du Grand-Rond et caserne Genes Lougnon
Urban planning · by Robert Armandary · 1935
5 rue Jean Aillet, Toulouse, France
Located near the Grand Rond, between Allée des Soupirs, Rue de Tivoli, and the Canal du Midi, the trapezoidal plot was formerly occupied by the Olin foundry, later known as Bonnet. The Bonnet heirs initially sought a subdivision certificate for 23 lots. In a preliminary project by Robert Armandary from 1929, the site was planned for a four-story Palace Hotel, aligning with the streets and featuring a large central garden with a swimming pool and dance hall. Ultimately, in 1931, the Toulouse municipality decided to construct a housing complex under the Loucheur law and purchased the land.
