42 place Mulac ; faubourg Saint-Cybard, Angoulême, France

In the 19th and early 20th centuries, Angoulême experienced significant economic growth due to the booming paper industry in the Saint-Cybard district. This expansion necessitated the establishment of public facilities, including a new school for boys, which was deemed essential in this working-class area by 1912. After a failed initial project, the municipal administration commissioned architect Roger Baleix in 1930 to design the new educational facility. Baleix created the building on a narrow, deep site near Place Mulac, the central hub of the neighborhood.
