École nationale supérieure d'architecture (ENSAN)

6 quai François Mitterand ; île de Nantes, Nantes, France
Constructed in the 1970s, the former Nantes School of Architecture no longer met its developmental objectives due to inadequate space and functional issues, compounded by an unfavorable urban location disconnected from the university campus and city center. In 1996, the Board of Directors decided to relocate the school to a site more integrated with the city. Chosen in collaboration with the city of Nantes and the Direction of Architecture and Heritage, the site for the new school is located in the Île de Nantes area, which is undergoing significant urban redevelopment, including notable projects like Jean Nouvel's courthouse.
