Église du Sacré-Cœur
Religion · by Maurice Haury · 1969
10 rue Directeur-Chaudon, Antibes, France
The project for the parish of the Sacred Heart is part of the new church campaign initiated in 1965 in the Diocese of Nice. Its development is closely linked to its first priest, Léon d'Agon de la Contrie. Born in 1908 to an Alsatian family in Algeria, he served as the priest of Constantine before being appointed as the priest of Notre-Dame de la Route in Antibes on August 15, 1964. In 1964, Father d'Agon organized fundraising efforts to replace the temporary prefabricated chapel built in 1958, and he received permission from the Diocese of Nice to create a "memorial chapel" dedicated to repatriates from North Africa.
