Église Notre-Dame-de-France
Religion · by Paul Lambert · 1936
3 place du Maréchal Leclerc, Juvisy-sur-Orge, France
Notre-Dame-de-France Church in Juvisy was built between 1936 and 1938 to replace the outdated Saint-Nicolas Church. Commissioned by Father Emile Baudet to architect Paul Lambert of the Versailles diocese, the design draws inspiration from the Paris Church of the Holy Spirit. The construction was funded by donations from the parishioners, prompted by a significant population growth that required a larger church rather than mere restoration. Although the church was consecrated in 1938 before completion, it remained largely intact despite significant bombings in 1944 that destroyed all the stained glass.
