Église Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire

Religion · by Jean Rouquet · 1960

36 rue Alsace Lorraine, Rezé, France

The Diocese Association and Father Jean Buet sought a contemporary church design that aligned with the liturgical innovations of the pre-conciliar period, emphasizing visibility, the use of rustic materials, and the strategic placement of the baptismal font. Father Buet expressed a desire to "build beautifully and economically," leading to the engagement of architect Jean Rouquet, who collaborated with Christian Trudon for the final project development and execution plans, along with Jacques Chenieux and Bernard Rousseau. Rousseau contributed to the design of the church benches, the altar figure of Christ, candlesticks, the two altars, and the curtain that separates the weekday chapel from the nave.
