Église Saint-Arbogast
Religion · by Bertrand Monnet, Fernand Guri, Gérard Lardeur · 1965
1 rue Châteauneuf-la-Forêt, Herrlisheim, France
The former church of Herrlisheim has undergone successive reconstructions in the 14th, 15th, and late 18th centuries. Its neoclassical style reflects French taste, evident in the building's façade, while incorporating local tradition, particularly with its bell tower. The church was destroyed in 1945, prompting the community to seek its protection as a historical monument. Despite its classification, the municipality, influenced by the Ministry of Reconstruction, requested its declassification, officially granted on October 5, 1962. A new church design proposed by Bertrand Monnet and Fernand Guri in November 1962 culminated in a final project in 1963.
