Église Saint-Jean-l'Evangéliste
Religion · by Jean Philippot · 1933
93 avenue Marceau, Drancy, France
The Church of Saint John the Evangelist is one of the early projects initiated by the Cardinal Verdier's work. Located in the northern district inhabited by railway workers, its construction was entrusted in 1933 to architect Jean Philippot of the railway company. Inaugurated in 1935 but left unfinished due to funding issues, the building is constructed of reinforced concrete with an exterior clad in red bricks. It features a spacious rectangular nave flanked by two small aisles. The entrance portal is topped with a large stained glass window and is adorned with a monumental sculpture of Saint John on the trumeau, along with a procession of angels across the lintel.
