ENSICA (école nationale supérieure d'ingénieurs de constructions aéronautiques)
Education · by Charles Lemaresquier, Lemaresquier Noël · 1928
1 place Émile Blouin, Toulouse, France
The ENSICA buildings, formerly a veterinary school, are situated on the hillside facing the Jolimont plateau, nestled between Henri-Guillaumet and Yves-Brunaud avenues. The relocation of the veterinary school, originally constructed in 1828 by departmental architect Laffont at the end of the current Jean-Jaurès promenades, was proposed in the early 20th century. The design by architect Charles Lemaresquier was selected. Construction began in 1932 but was completed only in 1940 due to late land expropriations and financial issues. Shortly after its completion, the school was requisitioned during the war for training aeronautical construction engineers.
