Government & Civic · by Joseph Thillet · 1935
place Charles Ourgaut, Villemur-sur-Tarn, France
Following a devastating flood on March 3, 1930, which destroyed 215 buildings in Villemur-sur-Tarn including the town hall, the local government allocated 100 million francs for reconstruction, supported by donations from France and abroad. The city of Lyon sponsored the rebuilding efforts, with urban planning and beautification projects led by architect Joseph Thillet. Completed in 1935 by the Guiraudie and Auffève firm, the new structure houses a town hall, a post office, a café, and a market hall, contributing significantly to the revitalization of the village.
