Hôtel La Pérouse

Commerce · by Barto Clotilde, Barto Bernard, Mazeron Pierrick · 1993

place des Petits-murs ; 50 cours des otages, Nantes, France

This three-star hotel is located in a protected area, necessitating compliance with regulations set by the Architect of Historic Monuments, which influenced the project’s development. Originally, there were two separate plots divided by a small street where a bakery existed. The architects later discovered that the proposed hotel site was previously home to an old lockkeeper's house. Consequently, an initial building permit was submitted in line with this configuration, which included early designs and models. However, the Architect of Historic Monuments rejected this, favoring a cohesive block design, prompting the architect to incorporate the hotel structure into the adjacent 19th-century building.
