villa Jules-Guesde, Troyes, France

The Villa Jules-Guesde, completed in 1926 in Troyes, represents a collective housing initiative led by Mayor Émile Clévy, a socialist and former worker. Following the establishment of the public Office of Inexpensive Housing (HBM) of Aube in 1922, the project aimed to provide affordable homes for the working-class population. The architects André Dubreuil, Roger Hummel, and Maurice Maurey were selected through a competition organized by the Office. This architectural effort reflects the social housing developments of the era, which included previous projects like the Villa Benoît Malon.
