53 route Nationale 2, Aubervilliers, France
The Maladrerie district, named after a medieval leprosy hospital, underwent a significant urban renewal project between 1975 and 1984, led by the Public Housing Office and the departmental mixed-economy company Sodédat 93. The project was entrusted to architect René Gailhoustet, who drew on his experience from the Ivry-sur-Seine center initiative, collaborating with a team of young architects including Vincent Fidon, Magda Thomasen, Katherine Fiumani, and Yves and Luc Euvremer. The development aims to provide "different social housing" solutions, addressing the issues of inadequate living conditions in the area.
