La Nérac
Urban planning · by Jacques Bardet · 1967
rue de la Nérac, Boussy-Saint-Antoine, France
In 1963, the Parisian region launched a competition for "Urban Villages" to explore "intermediate" housing comprised of independent housing clusters. Architect Jacques Bardet won with his proposal focusing on "dense individual habitat." The project was implemented in 1968 as part of the Val d'Yerres urbanization initiated by the Société Centrale Immobilière de la Caisse des dépôts. The residences in the Cité de la Nérac are based on cubic modules stacked in buildings of varying heights. They are arranged in discontinuous lines or groups within expansive lawns and are accessed by winding pathways.
