La Seine Musicale, completed in 2017, is a cultural complex located on Île Seguin in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. Designed by Shigeru Ban Architects and Jean de Gastines Architectes, the 36,500 m² facility includes a 6,000-seat multipurpose concert hall, a 1,150-seat classical music auditorium, rehearsal and recording spaces, and retail and dining areas. A notable feature is the ovoid-shaped auditorium, constructed with pre-assembled glued-laminated timber beams and a hexagonal double-glazed envelope. The building also features a large movable photovoltaic sail that tracks the sun to optimize energy production. (tess.fr)
