La tour des juges du tremplin de ski
Culture · by Gérard Boucton · 1989
Chaux-Neuve, France
In 1965, the municipality of Chaux-Neuve initiated plans for an Olympic ski jump at Côte Feuillée but had to halt construction due to financial constraints. In 1989, neighboring municipalities revived the project in anticipation of the Nordic Combined European Cup scheduled for December 1990. Architect Gérard Boucton was commissioned to design the new ski jump stadium. The tower features a central wooden-clad pillar housing a concrete spiral staircase that accesses ten judging cabins. These cabins are cantilevered on either side of the structure and are clad in metal, arranged on a slope following the contour of the ski jump.
