12-14 place du Ralliement ; 6 rue d'Alsace, Angers, France

As part of the restructuring of the Place du Ralliement following the theater fire in 1865, the Grand Hôtel was constructed between 1879 and 1881 on the eastern front by architect François Moirin, a leading figure in Angers' architectural scene at the time. Moirin was associated with two successive patrons, textile manufacturer Louis Renault-Lihoreau and pharmacist Emile Giffard, who retained a portion of the building. The Grand Hôtel Café occupies the central part of the establishment and connects to the "Passage Moirin," which traverses the building between rue d'Alsace and rue Saint-Denis.
