Lycée François Truffaut

Education · by Anspach Hogna, André Crespel, Humbaire Jean-Pierre, Bernard Ropa · 1990

rue Georges Pompidou, Bondoufle, France

The Lycée François Truffaut represents the second generation of high schools built in new towns, emphasizing versatility with a focus on tertiary education. Its architectural concept is introverted, contrasting sharply with its uninviting suburban context; the design features almost blind facades facing the activity zone and large glass windows opening towards a central green space, referred to as "the glade." The plan's clarity creates a defined central area while providing intimate spaces such as garden patios between low educational units, which consist of one story and are punctuated by circular staircases and gables. Significantly, there is an emphasis on communal areas within the layout.
