Lycée La Fontaine

1 place de la porte Molitor, Paris 16e Arrondissement, France
Lycée La Fontaine is one of three girls' high schools in Paris built during the interwar period as part of the Marquet plan. Located on the site of former fortifications and near new sports facilities, it exemplifies the urbanization of western Paris's outskirts. The school’s design features a monumental façade constructed in stone, reflecting classical architectural vocabulary. It establishes a closed relationship with the city. The quality of reception spaces and circulation is emphasized, particularly in the hall, which draws inspiration from palatial design. The interiors maintain drawing classrooms and feature decorative elements that highlight ornamentation and feminine motifs.
