Lycée Victor-Hugo
Education · by Busquet Léopold · 1925
139 avenue Victor-Hugo, Carpentras, France
A Dominican convent was constructed on land acquired in 1858, starting with the chapel followed by the cloister and the remaining buildings, designed by Guillaume-Joseph Pougnet. The secondary school for girls was inaugurated in 1925 based on plans by architect Léopold Busquet, as the convent's structures had been partially destroyed. The buildings are situated on a steep site sloping eastward, designed into two successive terraces connected by ramps and stairs. This slope offers a panoramic view from the central courtyard of Mont Ventoux and the Vaucluse mountains.
