Maison de l'architecte Rogé Beauvir
House · by Beauvir Rogé · 1957
10 parc de la Citadelle, Larmor-Plage, France
In 1957, architect Rogé Beauvir designed his secondary residence overlooking the Lorient harbor, opposite the Port-Louis citadel. Constructed in concrete, the building features modernist elements, including a flat roof, white surfaces, and geometric volumes. Beauvir skillfully contrasts right angles with curved lines, creating a dynamic interplay of solid and voids. The upper floor is partially elevated above a ground floor that rests on slender columns, partially extending over the garden. The residential spaces contrast with the cantilevered curved balcony, reminiscent of a ship’s promenade, a theme echoed in the suspended spiral staircase providing external access.
