Doha, Qatar
Inspired by the desert rose — a crystalline mineral that forms naturally in arid soils — the National Museum of Qatar wraps around the restored palace of Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani. The building's interlocking disc-shaped volumes house over 1.5 km of gallery space organized into three chapters covering the country's natural environment, cultural heritage, and modern development.
