Quartier de l'Hôpital
Urban planning · by Verlhac Prosper · 1930
route de Paris, Brive-la-Gaillarde, France
The town of Brive-la-Gaillarde experienced significant economic and demographic growth during the Third Republic, expanding from approximately 10,000 residents in 1870 to over 30,000 by the onset of World War II. The establishment of a new hospital between 1900 and 1902, located north of the Corrèze River, led to the development of a new neighborhood along the Paris road. The land was systematically divided in an orthogonal layout. This area saw the construction of villas and pavilions primarily built by middle-class property owners, including medical professionals and hospital staff, starting in the 1930s.
