Rue Mallet-Stevens
Urban planning · by Robert Mallet-Stevens · 1927
France
More than a single building, the street is a deliberately designed urban composition in which façades, setbacks and house types create a unified modern ensemble. The sequence feels cinematic, each volume adding variation while still participating in a clearly authored whole. It demonstrates how modern architecture could operate at the scale of the street and not only at the scale of the isolated object. Even today, the place retains the rare clarity of a fully conceived urban scene.
