Seine Rive Gauche housing
Collective housing · by Badia-Berger architectes · 2007
France
Developed in the renewed Paris Rive Gauche district, the scheme brings social housing into an area largely associated with large new urban infrastructure. The building negotiates the tension between the scale of the redevelopment and the need for recognisable domestic life through a façade broken into readable residential units. Outdoor spaces and openings help prevent the block from becoming an anonymous frontage. It is part of the broader effort to make the district socially mixed rather than purely corporate or institutional.
