Social Housing Rue Marcadet

Collective housing · by X-TU Architecture · 2009

France

An infill housing project that negotiates a dense Parisian street with a contemporary façade and compact plan. The design prioritizes daylight and cross‑ventilation within the constraints of party walls and urban setbacks. Balconies and loggias act as buffers between private interiors and the street, adding depth and usable outdoor space. Common circulation is treated as a social layer rather than leftover space, helping residents navigate the building with ease. Overall, it aims for durable, everyday architecture—quietly improving living quality through careful section and envelope work.
