Chapel of St. Thérèse of Lisieux (Lyttelton, New Zealand) is a 17 m² hillside sanctuary by Bull O’Sullivan Architecture that embodies “The Little Way” through small scale, crafted detail, and humble materials. The chapel’s triangular entry quietly references the Trinity while framing views to Whakaraupō/Lyttelton Harbour and Ripapa Island. A robust custom aluminium weatherboard exterior contrasts a warm rimu-lined interior; liturgical elements include a hand-carved heart-kauri crucifix (Johnny Hauraki), a kauri kneeler, and natural wool carpeting. Blessed on October 1, 2024, and gifted to the people of Christchurch, the project demonstrates precise joinery, material research, and careful detailing to deliver an intimate, durable, and contemplative public space.
