The Walls of Melilla with the Caves of the Conventico, located at Calle Miguel Acosta 11, 52001 Melilla, Spain, is a project completed in 2000 by Vellés Architects. The intervention focused on the restoration and consolidation of the Conventico Caves, a historic underground complex in Melilla la Vieja. These caves, dating back to the 18th century, were utilized for shelter and religious services during times of conflict. The restoration aimed to preserve the structural integrity of the caves and integrate them harmoniously with the surrounding cityscape. The project was part of the celebrations marking the 500th anniversary of the Spanish occupation of Melilla. (polipapers.upv.es)
