Villa Dall'Ava
House · by Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) · 1991
France
A dense urban villa that treats the single-family house as an arrangement of precise volumes rather than one unified object. OMA separates functions into distinct blocks and links them with transparent circulation, keeping light and views in constant play. The roof is turned into a prized outdoor room, culminating in a pool that makes the skyline part of the daily experience. The house balances privacy with openness by using glass strategically and by carefully orienting living spaces. It is a compact manifesto for contemporary domestic architecture: rigorous, inventive, and unapologetically urban.
