Japan

Airspace Tokyo is a mixed-use building that combines photography studios with residential units. Studio M designed the minimalist four-story volume, using ultra-transparent glass walls and ceilings to blur inside and outside. Thom Faulders created a layered exterior screen façade that provides privacy and shades the building like artificial vegetation. Together, the building and screen form a thin interstitial “airspace” of filtered light within a tightly packed neighborhood.
