Cave coopérative vinicole
Industrial · by Marcel Herans, Paul Bres · 1936
37 rue de l'Espérance, Coursan, France
The "L'Espérance" cooperative winery, founded on July 4, 1936, was designed by architect Marcel Hérans. The building was completed the same year, and in 1937 it was expanded to quadruple its capacity. A second vessel, a fermentation room with a capacity of 6,000 hectoliters, was added in 1942, mirroring the original gable wall and commemorating the winery's founding date. After 1951, expansions were planned by Emile Cambiès, but execution shifted to architect Paul Brès. In December 1957, Brès proposed designs for new docks and outlined a third vessel to be attached to the left side of the original structure.
