Chapelle de la maison de retraite Larmeroux
Religion · by Paul Marne, Marcel Marne · 1939
2ter rue Aristide-Briand, Vanves, France
The Larmeroux Foundation, combining a daycare and hospice, was relocated in 1939 to new buildings designed by municipal architects Paul and Marcel Marne. The retirement home wing features a long chapel that culminates in a semicircular end, rising to match the height of the adjacent two-story buildings. Constructed in reinforced concrete with a brick veneer, the structure is characterized by a series of monumental pillars on the façade, interspersed with vertical openings filled with opaque glass, arranged in a fan-like pattern influenced by interwar German churches.
