Chapelle Sainte Croix (ancienne chapelle de la résidence universitaire)
Religion · by Baudoin Eugène · 1961
134 avenue Léon-Blum, Antony, France
The Chapelle Sainte Croix, designed by architect Eugène Beaudouin in 1961, complements the Jean-Zay university residence completed in 1956, located on the eastern side of avenue Léon-Blum in Antony, France. Intended for both worship and socio-cultural activities, the chapel features a traditional construction approach that contrasts with the industrial methods used for the residence. It is built with a reinforced concrete frame and mixed brick and stone walls characterized by irregular courses, echoing early Christian architecture, yet incorporating a modern graphic style. The heterogeneous blocks, set with thick cement joints, create an uneven surface texture.
