Cité universitaire
Education · by René Tournier · 1932
quai Veil Picard, Besançon, France
The university residence, designed by architect René Tournier between 1929 and 1932, was commissioned by the rector of the Academy, the university president, and the HBM office. The design accommodates both male and female students in distinct spaces within the same building. Tournier was instructed to reference regional and historical architectural styles, resulting in a structure located at the edge of the old city by the river. Set on a concrete base, the building is constructed from stone and features a V-shaped layout, with two wings extending from a central core.
