2 rue Clovis-Chezel, Reims, France

In the second half of the 19th century, the Fléchambault district, located southwest of the historic center of Reims along the Vesle River and the Marne-Aisne canal, underwent rapid industrialization. It became a hub for numerous textile industries, capitalizing on Reims' strong tradition of wool processing, particularly with merino sheep from the Champagne region. During the early Second Empire, a fabric finishing and dyeing factory was established at the intersection of the Vesle, the canal lock, and the commercial road linking central Reims to Fléchambault. The building experienced several stages of construction under various entrepreneurs.
