Collège de jeunes filles, actuellement lycée Ernest Renan

Education · by Lefort Georges-Robert · 1934

boulevard de l'Hérault, Saint-Brieuc, France

The Saint-Brieuc girls' college, designed by architect Georges-Robert Lefort, was inaugurated in 1938. This building complements a primary school established around 1900 on the property overlooking the Gouëdic valley. Lefort added an L-shaped concrete structure that reflects the monumental style of the 1930s, incorporating regionalist elements such as a slate-covered roof. The facade of the longer wing features tall windows arranged in vertical segments across three levels, with the ground floor adorned with arched openings clad in granite. Dormer windows with overhanging hips enhance the architectural composition at the roof level.
