Église Saint-François-d’Assise
Religion · by Michel Marot · 1965
19 rue des Prés, Champagne-sur-Seine, France
The Église Saint-François-d’Assise was commissioned by a group of parishioners in 1963 for the southern part of Champagne-sur-Seine. Architect Michel Marot, known for the nearby Sainte-Agnès church, designed a square building measuring 20 meters on each side, with a sloped roof reminiscent of a tent, covered in triangular tiles. The structure is primarily concrete, featuring meulière stone cladding on its façades. A prominent 26-meter high pyramid spire originally made of translucent polyester was later replaced with copper, retaining only a transparent lower section due to weather damage in 1978.
