Église Saint-Joseph-des-Fins
Religion · by Dom Bellot Paul, Béranger F., Philippe J., Fluckiger F. · 1937
26 avenue de Genève, Annecy, France
The Église Saint-Joseph-des-Fins was constructed between 1937 and 1941 by Benedictine monk Dom Bellot, with the collaboration of architects F. Béranger and J. Philippe, at the request of Pastor Marie-Amédée Folliet. The presbytery was designed by J. Fluckiger. Consecrated on May 1, 1962, the church was elevated to the status of minor basilica in July 1964. With a seating capacity of one thousand, it shares this characteristic with the nearby Sainte-Bernadette parish. Dom Bellot's unique artistic approach combines Romanesque influences with modern materials like reinforced concrete, while maintaining a regional character through its local stone facades and colorful glazed tile roof.
