Flintholm Care Home

Collective housing · by Frederiksen & Knudsen Architects · 2007

Denmark

An elder-care complex shaped to feel more like a small neighborhood than an institution. Its curved plan creates sheltered outdoor rooms and short walking loops—useful for daily routines as well as gentle strolling. Shared spaces are placed where paths naturally meet, encouraging casual encounters, while private rooms can still feel calm and protected. The overall form balances openness and orientation, making it easier to navigate and nicer to live in.
