The city of Tours suffered significant damage during World War II, particularly in the southeastern neighborhoods due to their proximity to Saint-Pierre-des-Corps and its rail infrastructure. Consequently, the Beaujardin school complex was completely destroyed in the spring of 1944. Four years later, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Reconstruction and Urban Planning, the municipal council appointed architect Pierre Labadie, along with two fellow architects from Tours, to oversee its reconstruction. The new school complex is situated to the south of Édouard-Vaillant Street, on a site bordering the former Berry Canal.
